Empowering Children, Supporting Families, and Building Bright Futures
At Bright Stars Support Center, Occupational Therapists, Behavior Therapists, and families work together to identify goals and select activities that best support each child’s development. Our team creates individualized therapy plans designed to help children strengthen essential skills needed for daily life, learning, and independence.
Depending on each child’s needs, therapy may focus on the following developmental areas:
Gross Motor Skills
Developing whole-body movements such as balance, coordination, postural control, motor planning, and movement skills used in play and daily activities.
Fine Motor Skills
Strengthening hand and finger movements needed for tasks such as grasping objects, visual-motor coordination, drawing, pre-writing, and early writing skills.
Self-Help Skills
Supporting independence with daily routines including dressing, managing fasteners, hygiene, grooming, and feeding skills.
Self-Regulation Skills
Helping children develop the ability to manage transitions, maintain attention, participate in play, and regulate emotions and sensory responses during everyday activities.
Purposeful, Engaging, and Developmentally Appropriate Activities
At Bright Stars Support Center, Occupational Therapy focuses on helping children build the skills needed for everyday life through purposeful and engaging activities. Each therapy plan is individually designed to support the child’s unique strengths, challenges, and developmental goals.
The frequency and length of therapy sessions are determined by the child’s occupational therapy provider based on their individual needs. Our therapy approach is collaborative, and families are encouraged to participate in the process by observing sessions, attending team meetings, and sharing feedback. By working together, we ensure that therapy supports both the child’s development and the needs of the entire family.
